Spend a full day exploring two of the so-called "Seven Sisters," the islands of Vulcano and Lipari. Departing at 9:00 AM from the Villa San Giovanni Tourist Port, our first stop, Vulcano, is about an hour and a half of navigation away.
Our first stop will be the Spiaggia delle Acque Calde (Beach of Hot Waters). We'll anchor for an initial swim in the azure sea, where the water near the shore bubbles at high temperatures. It will be a truly thrilling and breathtaking experience. Nearby are the Fanghi di Vulcano (Vulcano Mud Baths), a unique warm lake where hot water mixed with mud emerges from underground, spreading a strong scent of sulfur in the air. Once back on board, we'll continue the tour of Vulcano Island, circumnavigating the island to its western coast, where we'll visit: Punta Cala del Formaggio, Capo Grosso, and Punta del Monaco. Shortly after, we'll reach the island's most mythological spot, La Piscina di Venere (Venus's Pool), our second stop for a swim. According to legend, Venus, the Goddess of Love, bathed in these waters to regain her lost virginity. It's a splendid natural pool within a small, equally natural amphitheater bordered by tuff rocks.
Next, we'll set sail again to visit Sicily's largest cave, La Grotta del Cavallo (The Horse's Cave), also known as the Grotta dell'Eremita (Hermit's Cave). Situated in a natural amphitheater of rare beauty, it's named for a boulder at the cave's edge that resembles a horse's head.
We'll then sail towards the largest of all the islands, Lipari. In the channel separating Vulcano from Lipari, we'll visit the famous Faraglioni sea stacks. The tallest is Pietra Lunga at 80 meters, alongside Pietra Menalda at 20 meters. A short distance away is also the evocative Arco degli Angeli (Arch of Angels), which we will, of course, visit. Our next stop is Spiaggia Praia di Vinci, accessible only by sea, striking for its beautiful formation, where we'll have an unforgettable swim.
We'll then head to the beautiful town of Lipari for a stop, anchoring a short distance from the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele. You'll have free time to wander through the adjacent narrow streets, filled with shops, restaurants, eateries, and much more. Once the departure time is set, we'll reunite on the boat. Our next stop will be the well-known Spiaggia di Pomice (Pumice Beach). Nearby are the now disused pumice and Obsidian quarries. The coastline is completely covered by a white expanse of pumice, while the enormous dune overlooking the beach is composed of very fine pumice. We'll anchor in this beautiful setting; the seabed will be enchanting, white, reminiscent of tropical waters. The water, usually very warm, will invite us for a magnificent swim, and you can easily reach the shore where spotting Obsidian or Pumice stones won't be difficult. About two hours before sunset, it will be time to refresh ourselves with a delicious aperitivo, which will precede our return navigation. You'll be pampered by the twilight glow that magically makes everything more captivating.
